What is OPAL?

Answer

Going online in August of 1998, the Ohio Private Academic Libraries (OPAL) consortium's catalog offers more than 2 million titles and 4 million individual items to the patrons of 20 Ohio academic libraries. All OPAL members are also members of OhioLINK, a statewide initiative offering a shared union database and the reciprocal borrowing of over 46 million items among 121 libraries in the state. The Pilgrim Library is a member of both consortiums.

The Defiance Catalog is part of the larger shared OPAL catalog.  If you find that you need an item we do not own, you can expand your search in the OPAL or OhioLink's catalogs to see if you can request the item from another library that does own it.  Contact a library staff member if you need help with this.
